New beers entering the Pennsylvania market

Haandbryggeriet Nissefar Holiday Ale is just one of several new beers that Pennsylvania can expect to see hit the market later in the year. In fact, it is only one of three from the Scandanavian brewery, the others being Dobbel Dram, a double IPA, and Haandbakk, a sour ale. I just recently started tracking what is coming in to Pennsylvania and there are a few other brews of interest.

Elysian Brewing will bring the brunt of its lineup over all the way from the Pacific Northwest. The small operation out of Washington is, perhaps, best known for the recent announcement of a collaboration with craft powerhouse, New Belgium Brewing, out of Colorado. The one to watch out for is Dragonstooth Stout, the #3 foreign stout in the world according to RateBeer.

Harpoon Brewing’s new Leviathan line will also be coming to Pennsylvania fairly soon. The Leviathan Imperial IPA and Baltic Porter, and Rauchfetzen were recently approved.

Finally, Vermont-based Wolaver’s, will be bringing down Will Stevens’ Pumpkin Ale. According to Norman Miller’s The Beer Nut blog, “Wolaver’s will also be introducing a new line that highlights the local farmers they buy ingredients from. The first one will be released this fall; it’s called Will Stevens’ Pumpkin Ale. Stevens is a Vermont organic pumpkin farmer and his pumpkins will be used in the recipes. His picture will be on the label.”
