Ninkasi Oatis Oatmeal Stout to debut in bottles next month
(Eugene, OR) - Ninkasi Brewing will release its fourth bottled beer later this year. Ninkasi Oatis Oatmeal Stout will join Tricerahops Double IPA, Total Domination IPA, and Believer Double Red, already sold in bombers (did Left Hook Lager ever make it into bottles?). It is not yet known if this will be in bottles year-round though the site indicates that it is on-tap year-round. An email has been sent to the brewery for more information. Co-Owner Nikos Ridge confirmed that bottles will be released in mid-October and be available as a seasonal offering.
Random tidbits: 1) Oatis appears to be on the fringe of an imperial beer at 7.2% ABV. 2) It first made its way around Portland pubs in early November of last year. 3) According to the PDX Beer blog, the beer is named after brewer/co-owner, Jamie Floyd’s, black lab, Otis.
Ninkasi does not distribute outside of the Pacific Northwest as far as I know but the beers can be purchased at Liquid Solutions, Bottle Trek, Liquid Gratitude and other online retailers based in the region. Sparse beer reviews over the past year indicate that this is a beer to keep tabs on if you are in the area.
