Port High Tide Fresh Hop IPA coming October 1st

(San Marcos, CA) - Port Brewing’s Tomme Arthur wrote up another blog piece this week on a recent visit to Yakima Valley, WA, the most prominent hop-growing region in the country. Arthur confirmed that he was able to procure the hops he needs for a 240 barrel batch of Port High Tide Fresh Hop IPA. According to Arthur, it will be “the largest batch of a seasonal beer Port Brewing has ever released!”

One thing that may not be clear is whether the hop profile for this is the same from year to year. Some brewers have had to change their recipes this year as a result of the hop shortage. Previous years of High Tide have featured a mixture of Centennial and Simcoe along with Amarillo. There is a release party scheduled on the brewery calendar for October 1 though it is conceivable that some bottles could begin to hit the Southern California market as early as late September. A batch of this size should hit virtually all of the distribution channels for those who have missed out in the past.

Arthur has plans to release a special Dry-Hopped version of Hop-15 in growlers only at the brewery on Sept. 19. Other upcoming Lost Abbey/Port releases include Lost Abbey Gift of the Maji and Port Santa’s Little Helper on Oct. 15. Port Older Viscosity will be sold on Nov. 1.
