It’s official: Boulevard gets its Russian Imperial Stout

Boulevard Imperial Stout

[Update: Released as of week of Jan. 12]

[Comments? Head on over to the Boulevard Russian Imperial Stout thread.]

(Kansas City, MO) – If you visited the BN Board this morning, you have already seen it but if not, label approval came over the weekend for Boulevard Russian Imperial Stout, the brewery’s first in the style (to my knowledge). Boulevard Brewing joins fellow major craft brewers, Sierra Nevada, who are currently aging some of their first imperial stout, and Redhook Brewery who, as you just read, brought their imperial stout back after many years of absence.

This beer is 8.5% ABV and they are apparently aiming for a production level of at least 10,000 750 mL bottles according to the label. And someone added “Boulevard Multi-grain Imperial Stout” to the Beer Advocate system a couple weeks ago after sampling it so there is already at least one or two tastings online.

Expect to see this one in spring ‘09.

I just had a report on Boulevard Single-Wide IPA last week as well.

  1. I may have had the Imperial Stout in unreleased form (no label). It was quite good.

  2. Great blog! I’m a University of Oregon student doing a report on craft brewing. It would be greatly appreciated if you took my survey!

  3. Was just at the liquor store and the guy was putting these on the shelves. Bought one to drink and two to hold.

  4. One thing, too — mine says 11% alcohol and not 8.5 like above.

  5. [...] Boulevard Imperial Stout was released in the Midwest. Sierra Nevada Torpedo Extra IPA and Sierra Nevada Bigfoot 2009 beginning to roll out this week. Should hit some stores over the weekend but next week (or week after) is more likely for the majority. [...]

  6. [...] should arrive at The Wine and Cheese Place in St. Louis next week and Boulevard Imperial Stout will arrive tomorrow (Monday). Watch Paul’s blog as he should also have in a bunch of stuff [...]
