Double IPA hits Maine in February
(South Portland, ME) –
Sebago Brewing Co.
is brewing up its double IPA once again, the style being a rarity for Maine. The Pine State is widely known as the home to Allagash Brewing and to some extent, a wide selection of stouts and porters, the gem of which has been Bar Harbor Cadillac Mountain Stout for many years. Hoppy beers, on the other hand, are few and far between. Enter
Sebago Full Throttle Double IPA.
According to Head Brewer, Tom Abercrombie, “This will be the third year that we’ve brewed this beer and the first time that it will be released in bottles. It will be available in Maine and MA in 12oz. 4pks. and 22oz. bottles. And of course it will be available in our pubs.
The beer is heavily hopped with Centennial, Cascade, Chinook and Simcoe hops. 85 IBUs, 8.2% ABV, and dry hopped for at least a month. We are planning on distributing it from the beginning of February through April.”
85 IBUs might make that the most bitter beer that Maine has seen yet.
Other specs:
Brewed with 2-Row, Caramel 40 L, 60L and 80L
22oz SRP $4.69
4-pk SRP $7.99-$8.39

that sounds utterly disgusting. way too much crystal malt with make this an overly sweet beer. not to mention the ringwood yeast adding a buttery flavor to it. and i’ve never heard of any beer being dry hopped for “at least a month”. are they staggering the dry hopping?
