Captain Lawrence coming out with two more sours
[Per comment below, Little Liquid won't be announced as it's more limited than a typical release and Flaming Fury won't come until summer]
(Pleasantville, NY) – Captain Lawrence Brewing has a couple more beers in the works for 2009 release. These label approvals are fresh from today so no release info yet (Owner/Brewer, Scott Vaccaro, generally sends out an email a week or two before). That said, the buzz on Beer Advocate is that there is another beer release event to come before the Anniversary Party on May 16 which is the weekend after Mother’s Day.
Why is that last tidbit significant? Because one of the beers is named after Vaccaro’s mother, Linda. Her beer,
Captain Lawrence Little Linda’s Liquid
, is an American Sour Ale that will be released in 375 mL bottles. The label for reads, “This beer was designed around a few special ingredients… New York grown sour cherries, an acidic golden ale, and a beautiful 800 gallon oak tank. Brewed in honor of, and named after the only person that could fit inside that tank to get it ready to fill…” The beer debuted at the Beer Advocate Extreme Beer Fest last month under the name, Little Linda’s Lixer, with an ABV listed of about 8.5%. Bottle conditioning could slightly up that.
The other new beer is called
Flaming Fury
and is a Sour Ale brewed with peaches and aged in Oak. Label: “We took some of our Golden Ale and added a bunch of fresh picked local peaches and let the barrels ripen.” This one will be packaged in 750 mL’s.
Unless I’ve lost track, these would make sour beers #3 and #4 for the brewery to be released in bottles (or perhaps released, period). Rosso e Marrone, the last CLB sour to be released, was a hit, earning a 4.06 on RateBeer. [ed: I would tell you where the beer ranks the site but it looks like I am locked out from viewing beers past the top 50 despite being a member (and a paying one at that- sent Joe an email).]
The brewery has an events listing on its website though if you want to get the release details, you need to join their newsletter linked on that same page.

Little Linda’s Liquid won’t be an announced release for this batch, since it’s very, very limited this go around. And the peach version isn’t even bottled yet so I wouldn’t expect it until Summer.
Cheers!

Try using BeerAdvocate instead of RateBeer. It’s free and although still skewed towards rarer beers, it is way better than RB.
