Dogfish Sahtea video and other notes

(Milton, DE) – Piggybacking off of the Dogfish Head Sah’tea sneak peak from the other day, here is a video pulled off of the DFH website showing the hot rocks transfer that took place on Brew Day (Tuesday). There’s another (much shorter) video there with Brewer, Bryan Selders, discussing the video brewing process. These videos are now also online as part of the new Youtube channel for Dogfish Head.

Other News and Notes from the Blogfish section of the site: “We’re still working on the kinks of how to pull off [Sah'tea] on the bigger system, so our planned spring release will be pushed to summer.” Between brewing time, bottling, and distribution, it sounds like June is more likely than May for the release of this beer.

Via Sam Calagione: “Next week we’re releasing Squall IPA (a bottle-conditioned, meta-hopped, unfiltered imperial ipa) is select markets with our friends at Rogues Gallery.” Some East Coast markets might be seeing this beer hit the shelves as early as this week.

Lastly, one more tidbit via Bryan Selders, this regarding Burton Baton, the brewery’s oak-aged IPA: “The second Burton of the year has been moved to the wood and dry-hopped. Did you know that we use 627 pounds of dry hops for 270 barrels of Burton Baton? That’s on top of the 323 that are used in the brewhouse. You’re welcome.”

  1. Okay, “meta-hopped”? Now that’s one I haven’t heard before… Sounds very post-modern.

  3. Wow that video is painful. Did they not think about putting the rocks in the baskets before they put them on the heat? But it does some up DFH’s theology that if it sounds crazy we will do it, how it turns out is not the point.

  4. Borderline the worst video I’ve ever seen. I love the site, but that’s hardly worth a post.

  5. Hah, yeah been busy apartment hunting…not much time to post anything of substance.
