Highland Brewing to release Big Butte Smoked Porter
(Asheville, NC) – Back in late March, Highland Brewing held the 2nd Annual Highland Cup, a homebrewing competition in which the brewery agrees to bottle the winning recipe and submit it to the Great American Beer Festival Pro-Am event. The brewery also sends the winner to GABF.
This year, Hops n Vines shop owner, Alex Buerckholtz, placed first and second with his smoked porter and American pilsner, respectively. As a result, Highland Black Butte Smoked Porter will be sold in bombers (only in North Carolina) this fall. From the label, “This Robust Smoked Porter is brewed with a generous portion of German smoked malt and accented with earthy Fuggle hops.” 7% ABV.
Look for this along with the return of the brewery’s Scotch-style beer, Highland Tasgall Ale, in September.
