Magic Hat Vinyl named spring seasonal, Feast of Fools back this winter
[1/09 Update: This beer uses Pale, Crystal, Munich, Victory malts and Northern Brewer hops. "This mysterious elixir blooms over us beginning in mid-January and can be found in the Spring Fever variety 12-paks, as well as in 6- and 12-paks all by itself." It's already available as of this weekend in some places.]
[11/24 Update: Lukas Payette noticed that Magic Hat H.I.P.A. is now listed as an offed-one on the website so Vinyl may be its replacement (unconfirmed).]
(South Burlington, VT) – Magic Hat Brewing has received label approval for a new spring seasonal, Vinyl. The beer will be sold in 22 oz. bombers. Magic Hat said in a tweet last week that this will be a “malt-based lager” with artwork by Jim Pollock, known for doing Phish posters for over two decades. Magic Hat has put up a webpage for the beer.
Confusingly, Magic Hat has released both a mixed 12-pack (official flash version, unofficial non-flash version) and a 750 mL bottle with the name, Feast of Fools. Both are out right now.
The 12-pack is widely available and features: Howl Black Lager, Odd Notion American Sour Ale, 9 Pale Ale, and Lucky Kat IPA.
Available in very limited quantities is the 750 mL Feast of Fools, a 5% ABV raspberry stout. The brew, formerly 7.5% ABV, appears to have transformed a bit over time so beware of the 4.1 average on Beer Advocate (which would make this Magic Hat’s top-rated product). Who said a 5% beer couldn’t be put into fancy “big beer” packaging? Bottle pics can be found on Magic Hat’s Twitpic page.
Kudos to Justin Harm for sleuthing out the label and tweet.
