Goose Island Beer Co. introduces year-round draft beer
(Chicago, IL) – Goose Island Beer Co. CEO, John Hall, announced last week that the brewery will introduce a new year-round draft beer, Green Line Pale Ale, around Chicago.
ChicagoBusiness.com reports: “The lighter American pale ale will be the Chicago-based brewer’s 26th beer and will be available at 50 restaurants and bars throughout the area, CEO John Hall said.” [...] “The beer will be launched at restaurant Uncommon Ground in Edgewater on Monday night.”
[2/1 Update: Goose Island's Green Line Project site, launched today, does a much better job of illustrating Goose Island's green initiative] The article puts a peculiar slant on the beer claiming it is environmentally friendly because it is only in kegs and forgoes the carbon footprint of bottles. I’ve never heard of a brewery marketing its keg-only beers as environmentally friendly for that reason though it sounds like the brewery is looking into taking some steps to go green.
Commercial Description: “Green Line Pale Ale is a light-colored, immensely sessionable American pale ale with a pronounced, bright, American hop aroma and citrus flavor. Notes of biscuit and lightly toasted malt create the backbone for Green Line’s pleasant, crisp bitterness.”
Beer stats:
ABV: 5%
IBU: 30
OG: 13
Malts: Pale
Hops: Amarillo, Simcoe, Liberty, Columbus

Check out my Goose Island posts from a couple weeks ago if you haven’t already. ChicagoBusiness.com also reported this month that the brewery just expanded distribution to Washington D.C.
Finally, the Hopcast guys recently visited Head Brewer, Wil Turner, at Goose Island Clybourn:
