    Guinness Anniversary Stout story

Again, not sure when it'll be released but should be by St. Patty's Day at the latest. Just an educated guess.

Officially released April 24, 2009. I picked up a case on Saturday, April 25. A six pack, in my opinion, is not enough to judge a beer properly. First objection: $39.99 for the case - ouch! Now, I'm a die-hard Guinness fan, have been for decades and take my Guinness seriously. While I wasn't thrilled with the lack of nitrogen-powered bubbles floating down in my glass, I understand that taste is paramount and decided to wait. Excited by the unknown, I hoisted the glass and sipped, then guzzled, hitched and burped. "Wow, that's Rheingold!", I exclaimed. My wife had that concerned, confused look on her face, waiting for an explanation. I explained that I had not tasted that particular burp since that early 70's when we used to sneak my father's Rheingold. I'll have to do my research to see what kind of hops they used. The brew was dark, but not creamy. I had a few bottles at a time over the next few days, to let the taste settle in. My bottom line: Too expensive for a dark beer that's a little light on flavor and complexity. The Guinness name with a watered down stout is turning off the Guinness faithful. Does Guinness remember New Coke? Skip this one.
